One of these, ...once a year,... fulfills Clive's desire to turn a couple of posts on the lathe, and refresh and fine tune his wood turning skills. As two-storey bi-level verandahs go, this was a challenge and was an extended time-consuming project, however, the end result was the reward. |
12 Months later, Clive got an inspiration to see if he'd lost his skills on the lathe, and undertook to create this 64 foot wrap-around verandah. Architecturally, this is an excellent improvement to the curb appeal view of this structure.In addition to the large posts, Clive also created the spindles. |
Post tall, posts short, and spindles - it's just what the wood hobbyist likes - to be creative with his hands. Clive once again, after some months of loafing around, returned to his favourite woodworking machine, his wood lathe. Not the usual cabinet-maker's wood-lathe, but one with a fourteen foot bed. |
